Super creamy Hummus – Healthy chickpea spread
Are you in the mood for a super creamy Hummus? Then you’ve come to right place! Today I have something special for you! A super delicious oriental recipe: Healthy chickpea spread, also known as Hummus!
Like our healthy tabbouleh recipe, this masterpiece of oriental cuisine has been provided by the lovely @Shibaskitchen.
I think quite some time passed since we have uploaded our last real dip recipe. I guess it’s been even more than a whole year, since I posted my Health hazelnut spread recipe.
So it’s definitely time for a new one. Let’s get started right away. Before I start to talking too much.
Super creamy Hummus
- 400 g canned chickpeas
- 100 g tahini
- 40 ml olive oil
- 1 clove(s) garlic
- 0.5 tsp cumin
- 150 ml water cold
- some lemon juice
- some salt
- some parsley
- Drain the chickpeas well.
- Finely chop the garlic clove.
- Blend all ingredients except the parsley with a hand blender or food processor until creamy.
- Add a little water if necessary, if the consistency is too thick.
- Serve with a little olive oil and chopped parsley.

Tip: Freeze hummus
Since making hummus yourself can be a little time-consuming, I suggest preparing a little more or double the amount you need and fill it into a jar or something you can freeze.
When doing so, you should pay attention to the fact that frozen hummus must thaw in the refrigerator one night before consumption.
But if you plan on storing it in the refrigerator it should be fine for around one week or a little longer. Depending on the freshness of your ingredients.
What fits well with hummus ?
Hummus is a super delicious side dish that you can actually eat with almost anything. For example, with some grilled fish or a falafel. But you can also use hummus as a dip for vegetable sticks, crackers or as a butter alternative. Feel free to try out different combinations to see what you like the most.
